Regular Season Round 12: Nassjo - Umea 89-85

Date: November 29, 2016
The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Nassjo's (5-6) home victory over bottom-ranked Umea (1-9) 89-85 on Tuesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-13. But Umea won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nassjo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Umea's 36. The winners were led by Montenegrin guard Milos Latkovic (196-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who scored that evening 16 points and 6 rebounds and American center Dartaye Ruffin (205-91, college: Drexel, agency: Dynamics Global Management) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Even 13 points and 8 rebounds by American forward George Valentine (203-88, college: Winthrop, agency: Mansfield and Associates) did not help to save the game for Umea. His fellow American import guard Gerald Williams (190-91, college: La Sierra) added 14 points. Five Nassjo and four Umea players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nassjo moved-up to sixth place. Umea lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. They share it with Malbas. Nassjo will meet higher ranked Sodertalje Kings (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Umea will play against the league's second-placed Uppsala Basket (#2) and hope to win that game.
