Regular Season Round 10: Fenerbahce - Real Madrid 78-77

A very close game took place in Istanbul between Turkish Fenerbahce and Spanish Real Madrid. Third ranked Fenerbahce (7-3) got a very close home victory over their biggest opponent Real Madrid (7-3). Fenerbahce managed to escape with a 1-point win 78-77 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Real Madrid. Real Madrid was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Nigerian power forward Ekpe Udoh (208-87, college: Baylor) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American forward James Nunnally (201-90, college: UCSB) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 14 points and 8 assists by Sergio Llull (190-87) did not help to save the game for Real Madrid. American power forward Anthony Randolph (211-89, college: LSU) added 16 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) for lost side. Five Fenerbahce and four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Real Madrid's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fenerbahce have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Turkish champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Real Madrid. Fenerbahce will meet at home Crvena Zvezda (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Madrid will play against Zalgiris (#11) and hope to secure a win.
