No shocking result in a game when first ranked Toshiba Thunders (18-3) beat 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (5-16) in Kanagawa 87-78 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 50-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The other American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) replied with 21 points and 4 assists and American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) added 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hokkaido L.Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-3 record. Hokkaido L. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 16 games lost.
