Regular Season Round 13: Pogon RS - AZS PS Gliwice 95-97

There was an upset in Ruda Slaska where higher ranked Pogon RS (5-7) was edged by twelfth ranked AZS PS Gliwice (4-9) 97-95 on Saturday. AZS PS Gliwice looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Pogon RS was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Maciej Piszczek (203-96) fired 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Piotr Krupa (204-88) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). AZS PS Gliwice's coach Sylwester Walczuk used entire bench in such tough game. Point guard Patryk Jelen (183-90) produced 32 points and 8 assists and point guard Mateusz Pawlik (180-92) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. AZS PS Gliwice moved-up to ninth place in Group C. Loser Pogon RS dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. AZS PS Gliwice will face league's leader AZS PK in Krakow in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
