Regular Season Round 18: Perlas-MRU - Petrochema 83-88

We should mention about the upset which took place in Vilnius, where higher ranked Perlas-MRU (11-8) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Petrochema (5-13) 83-88. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 33-20. But Perlas-MRU won third quarter 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Perlas-MRU 36-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. Petrochema players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Perlas-MRU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Lukas Grabauskas (194-95) notched 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Tomas Milinskas (203-90) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Even 16 points and 4 assists by guard Margiris Normantas (193-96) did not help to save the game for Perlas-MRU. Power forward Lukas Kvedaravicius (206-97) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Petrochema and four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Perlas-MRU's coach Arvydas Gronskis tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Petrochema maintains thirteenth position with 5-13 record. Perlas-MRU at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Petrochema's next round opponent will be higher ranked Zalgiris II (#6) in Kaunas and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Perlas-MRU will play on the road against Suduva-Mantinga where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
