Regular Season Round 11: Weert - Leiden 53-73

The game in Weert supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Leiden (8-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Weert (1-10). Leiden did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 73-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Weert managed to win fourth quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leiden forced 20 Weert turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Weert's players. It was a great evening for American point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 7 assists. The former international Jessey Voorn (197-90, agency: Court Side) helped adding 13 points and 5 assists. Matthew Van Tongeren (201-93) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Dyon Halman (204-94, agency: Court Side) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leiden maintains second place with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader Groningen, which they share with Zwolle. Weert at the other side stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Leiden will meet at home league's leader Groningen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Weert will play against Zwolle (#3) and hope to win that game.
