We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Varese where fourteenth ranked AV Cantu (3-7) defeated 13th ranked Openjobmetis VA (3-7) 92-82 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by AV Cantu. Openjobmetis VA managed to win third quarter 31-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when AV Cantu won last quarter 21-13. It was a great shooting night for AV Cantu especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. American swingman Tremmell Darden (194-81, college: Niagara) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St., agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 25 points and 11 assists during the contest. Four AV Cantu players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Eric Maynor (191-87, college: VCU) responded with 32 points and American-Nigerian power forward O.D. Anosike (203-91, college: Siena) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Openjobmetis VA's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. AV Cantu moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Openjobmetis V. and VL Pesaro. Openjobmetis VA lost third consecutive game. AV Cantu will meet at home higher ranked Scandone AV (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Openjobmetis VA will play against the league's second-placed Grissin Bon RE (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
