Regular Season Round 12: Tambov - Spartak SP 99-61

The game between second ranked Tambov (9-4) and 7th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (3-10) in Tambov on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Tambov outscored guests from St.Petersburg 99-61. Tambov dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak St.Petersburg's 32. They outrebounded Spartak St.Petersburg 42-30 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tambov looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Spartak St.Petersburg's players. The winners were led by guard Maksim Kuznetsov (188-90) who scored that evening 24 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) and forward Nikita Gresev (204-88) supported him with 9 points and 13 rebounds. Even 16 points by forward Fedor Shpakov (200-97) did not help to save the game for Spartak St.Petersburg. Forward Denis Hloponin (206-81) added 15 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tambov used an opportunity after Stroitiel Engels lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Spartak St.Petersburg keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Tambov will again meet at home Spartak St.Petersburg (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Spartak St.Petersburg will have a break next round.
