Regular Season Round 5: Dynamo NR - TTT Riga 56-65

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Latvian TTT Riga's (3-2) road victory over 3rd placed Russian Dynamo NR (1-4) in Novosibirsk 65-56 on Wednesday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. TTT Riga made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (181-80, college: Siena, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Lithuanian power forward Giedre Paugaite (193-90) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Canadian forward Tamara Tatham (185-85, college: Massachusetts) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American center Latoya Williams (192-87, college: Chipola JC) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Dynamo NR. Defending Latvian champion maintains second place in Group C with 3-2 record having just eight point less than leader Basket Gdynia. Dynamo NR lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the third position with four games lost. TTT Riga will face Samsun (#4) on the road in the next round. Dynamo NR will play against the league's leader Galatasaray in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
