Regular Season Round 10: Szedeak - Alba 84-89
Date: December 10, 2016
A Division top team - Alba (9-1) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Szedeak (4-4) in Szeged 89-84. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-12. But Szedeak won second period 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Winston Shepard (203-93, college: San Diego St.) notched 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward James Farr (208-92, college: Xavier) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Alba's coach Branislav Dzunic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists by Bulgarian Ivan Lilov (194-88, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Szedeak. Serbian guard Andrija Ciric (198-80) added 17 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Five Alba and four Szedeak players scored in double figures. Alba have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Loser Szedeak dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Alba will meet at home league's second-placed Kormend in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Szedeak will play against PVSK Pannon (#4) in Pecs and hope to secure a win.
