Regular Season Round 17: Panteras - Toros 82-84

The most exciting game of round 17 in the LNBP took place in Aguascalientes. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed Panteras (10-8) to second ranked Toros (12-6) 84-82 on Saturday evening. Toros made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Toros' coach Jose Martinez Boglio used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Puerto Rican point guard Alex Abreu (180-91, college: W.Georgia) responded with 21 points and 4 assists and international power forward Fernando Benitez (204-89) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Toros maintains second place with 12-6 record having four points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Panteras at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Toros are looking forward to face Soles (#3) in Mexicali in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Panteras will play on the road against Barreteros in Zacatecas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
