Regular Season Round 14: BG Lulea - AIK 47-79

Date: December 11, 2016
There was no surprise when 9th ranked BG Lulea (2-8) was crushed at home by second ranked AIK (9-1) 79-47 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by AIK. BG Lulea was better in third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BG Lulea to just 6 points in first quarter and to 14 points in first half. AIK dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to BG Lulea's 14. AIK forced 21 BG Lulea turnovers and outrebounded them 38-21 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Alexander Holmstrom-Forster (198-92) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Nemanja Jovanovic (198-91) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard William Eriksson-Hansson (185-98) produced 21 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and swingman David Hook (192-99) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted AIK maintains second position with 9-1 record behind leader Djurgarden. BG Lulea lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost.
