Regular Season Round 12: Basket Kosice - Sokol Pisek 88-83

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Sokol Pisek (3-10) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Basket Kosice (6-7) 88-83 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Basket Kosice dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Sokol Pisek's 26. Basket Kosice forced 19 Sokol Pisek turnovers. Sokol Pisek was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Jan Kratochvil (199-82) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Jan Nekolny (192-91) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Basket Kosice players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Petr Slechta (192-95) with 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and power forward Pavel Englicky (210-83) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Basket Kosice maintains sixth position with 6-7 record. Loser Sokol Pisek keeps the tenth place with ten games lost. Basket Kosice will face higher ranked Sokol Prazky (#5) in Praha in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sokol Pisek will play on the road against BK Loko Plzen (#7) and hope to win that game.
