Regular Season Round 25: SeaHorses - San-en 87-64

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kariya. First ranked Aishin Sea Horses faced 4th placed Sanen Neophoenix. Host Aishin Sea Horses (19-6) smashed guests from Hamamatsu (12-13) 87-64. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Sanen Neophoenix was better in fourth quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sanen Neophoenix 39-22 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Aishin Sea Horses especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists. The former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) added 16 points in the effort for Sanen Neophoenix. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 19-6 record. Sanen Neophoenix lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with 13 games lost. They share it with Hitachi SR and Kyoto Hannar.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
