The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Singapore Slingers edged 3rd ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas at home 71-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Alab Pilipinas. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-16. But Alab Pilipinas won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 26 personal fouls committed by Alab Pilipinas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American-Filipino guard Bobby Ray Parks (193-93, college: High School) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American-South Korean forward Lee Dong-Joon (200-80, college: Seattle Pacific) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Alab Pilipinas. Alab Pilipinas' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Alab Pilipinas at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. Alab Pilipinas will play next round against Kaohsiung trying to get back on the winning streak. Singapore Slingers will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked KL Dragons in Kuala Lumpur.
