No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Greek Panathinaikos (8-5) beat on the road bottom-ranked Italian Armani Milano (4-9) 86-72 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-72. It was a very good performance for American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) contributed with 16 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. American forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Lithuanian point guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, agency: Players Group) added 7 points and 6 assists in the effort for Armani Milano. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Panathinaikos. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fenerbahce. Armani Milano lost their sixth game in a row. Defending Italian champion dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Panathinaikos will face higher ranked Baskonia (#3) in Vitoria in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Armani Milano will play on the road against FC Barcelona (#10) and hope to win that game.
