Regular Season Round 4: Hong Kong ELL - Singapore S. 71-77

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (4-1) at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Singapore Singapore Slingers (5-1) 77-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Hong Kong ELL. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Singapore Slingers outrebounded Hong Kong ELL 41-21 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 22 rebounds and guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) who added 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and guard Tyler Lamb (196-91, college: Long Beach St.) scored 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals. Singapore Slingers keep a position of league leader. Hong Kong ELL at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. Singapore Slingers will play against KL Dragons (#4) in Kuala Lumpur in the next round. Hong Kong ELL will have a break next round.
