Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#3) and Al Shamal (#6). Al Rayyan (5-1) won against visiting Al Shamal (2-4) 100-96. The hosts were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 36-24 Al Shamal's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 100-96 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Al Shamal 45-34 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Tanguy Ngombo (197-84) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 5 rebounds. American center Marcus Bell (206-90, college: CS Stanislaus) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Mohamed Haras answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds and American guard Justin Tubbs (190-87, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 32 points and 8 assists in the effort for Al Shamal. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Rayyan have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Al Gharafa. Al Shamal at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
