Regular Season Round 15: Jesi - Verona 80-75

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Jesi (7-8) beat at home 9th ranked Verona (6-8) 80-75 on Thursday. Verona was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Timothy Bowers (188-82, college: Mississippi St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Power forward Andrea Benevelli (202-85) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Giorgio Boscagin (196-83) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American center Dane Diliegro (204-88, college: New Hampshire) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Verona. Four Jesi and five Verona players scored in double figures. Verona's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jesi moved-up to ninth place in A2. Loser Verona dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Jesi will face higher ranked Mantova (#4) in Mirandola in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Verona will play on the road against the league's second-placed Treviso Basket (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
