Regular Season Round 12: Valmiera - BK Ogre 86-76

Rather expected game when 11th ranked BK Ogre (5-6) lost on the road to ninth ranked Valmiera (8-2) 86-76. The game was mostly controlled by Valmiera. BK Ogre was better in fourth quarter 28-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded BK Ogre 35-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Valmiera especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. BK Ogre was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Arturs Berzins (204-88) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Ervins Jonats (203-91) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Valmiera's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Marcis Vitols (183-92) with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Kristaps Plavnieks (183-95) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists. Five Valmiera and four BK Ogre players scored in double figures. Valmiera have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending Latvian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Barons Riga. BK Ogre lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
