Regular Season Round 12: TTU - Jekabpils 86-82

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Estonian TTU (4-5) beat 10th ranked Latvian Jekabpils (7-4) in Tallinn 86-82. It looked good early as Jekabpils took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then TTU had a 23-11 second period charge getting the lead and Jekabpils were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-86. TTU made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Sten Olmre (192-95) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Rinalds Sirsnins (186-85) with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Jekabpils players scored in double figures. TTU maintains twelfth position with 4-5 record. Jekabpils at the other side keep the tenth place with four games lost. TTU will play against higher ranked P.Zvaigzdes (#8) in Pasvalys in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jekabpils will have a break next round.
