Regular Season Round 15: IA - Armann 90-62

Date: January 5, 2017
Bottom-ranked Armann is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 13th consecutive match to eighth ranked IA (4-9) 90-62 on Thursday evening. The game was mostly controlled by IA. Armann managed to win fourth quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Armann 55-41 including a 45-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. IA looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American guard Derek Shouse (188-93, college: Mo.-St.Louis) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Forward Sigurdur Sigurdsson (198-88) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. IA's coach Jon Thordarson felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Magnus Hjalmarsson (184) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Helgi Hrafn Thorlaksson (180-82) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Armann. IA maintains eighth place with 4-9 record. Armann at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. IA are looking forward to face higher ranked Valur (#3) in Reykjavik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Armann will play on the road against the league's leader Hottur (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
