Regular Season Round 16: Kalisz - Gornik Walbrzych 58-77

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Kalisz (2-11) was crushed at home by second ranked Gornik (14-1) 77-58 on Friday. Gornik outrebounded Kalisz 44-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. Marcin Wrobel (200-87) fired 9 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Rafal Niesobski (189-82) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. Four Gornik players scored in double figures. Gornik's coach Arkadiusz Chlebda allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Artur Mrowczynski (194-84) produced 31 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and guard Lukasz Wojciechowski (184-88) added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Gornik maintains second position with 14-1 record having just one victory less than leader Slask Wroclaw. Newly promoted Kalisz dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Gornik will face Nowa Sol (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Kalisz will play against WKK Wroclaw and hope to win that game.
