Regular Season Round 17: Quimper - Rennes 86-60
Date: January 7, 2017
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Quimper UJAP (13-4) smashed at home 9th ranked Union Rennes (8-9) 86-60 on Saturday. The game without a history. Quimper UJAP led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Quimper UJAP outrebounded Union Rennes 38-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Union Rennes' players. The best player for the winners was American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (201-92) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) produced 18 points and point guard Johan Rathieuville (178-85) added 11 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Quimper UJAP maintains second place with 13-4 record behind leader Souffel. Newly promoted Union Rennes dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Quimper UJAP will face Orchesien BC (#8) in Orchies in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Union Rennes will play on the road against Vendee Challans and hope to win that game.
