Regular Season Round 13: Alghero - San Salvatore 62-78

Bottom-ranked Alghero (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-62 loss to ninth ranked San Salvatore (6-7) in Alghero. The game without a history. San Salvatore led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Slovenian power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) nailed 27 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Francesca Russo (178-96) accounted for 21 points and 5 rebounds. San Salvatore's coach Fabrizio Staico allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Camilla Barbone (169-93) came up with 13 points and 4 steals and Bulgarian point guard Iva Georgieva (170-96, college: Salt Lake CC) added 12 points and 7 steals respectively for Alghero in the defeat. San Salvatore moved-up to eighth place in A2. Newly promoted Alghero still closes the standings with 13 games lost. San Salvatore's next round opponent will be Virtus Cagliari (#10) on the road. Alghero will play against Cagliari CUS (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
