Regular Season Round 5: Kaohsiung - Alab Pilipinas 77-86

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Taiwanese Kaohsiung (89-5) in Kaohsiung City on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas (3-2) 86-77. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kaohsiung won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American-Filipino guard Bobby Ray Parks (193-93, college: High School) stepped up and scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and American forward Sampson Carter (203-90, college: Massachusetts) chipped in 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Alab Pilipinas players scored in double figures. Alab Pilipinas' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Hungarian power forward Derek Hall (210-90, college: Albright) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Chris Oliver (201-85, college: Radford) scored 19 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Alab Pilipinas maintains fourth place with 3-2 record. Kaohsiung lost fifth consecutive game. They still keep top position with five games lost. Alab Pilipinas are looking forward to face KL Dragons (#5) in Kuala Lumpur in the next round. Kaohsiung will play on the road against Saigon Heat (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
