Fourth ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas (5-2) saved a 2-point victory at home edging second-best Singapore Singapore Slingers (8-2) 74-72 on Friday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Singapore Slingers won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American-Filipino guard Bobby Ray Parks (193-93, college: High School) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Lawrence Domingo (196-89, college: E.New Mexico) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Alab Pilipinas' coach used entire bench in such tough game. American guard Xavier Alexander (198-88, college: S.Nazarene) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) added 13 points and 17 rebounds in the effort for Singapore Slingers. Four Singapore Slingers players scored in double figures. Alab Pilipinas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Hong Kong ELL. Singapore Slingers at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. Alab Pilipinas will play against Hong Kong ELL (#4) in the next round. Singapore Slingers will have a break next round.
