Regular Season Round 19: Nevezis - Dzukija 70-79

Everything could happen in Kedainiai at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Dzukija and 9th ranked Nevezis had identical 5-13 record. But Nevezis was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Alytus 79-70 on Saturday night. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Dzukija dominated on the defensive end, holding Nevezis to just 7 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 38. It was an exceptional evening for Spanish guard Alejandro Hernandez (189-90) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 5 assists. Forward Julius Kazakauskas (197-90) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Croatian guard Toni Prostran (182-91) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists and Serbian forward Ivan Smiljanic (199-89, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Nevezis in the defeat. Dzukija maintains eighth place with 6-13 record. Nevezis lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Dzukija will meet at home higher ranked P.Zvaigzdes (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nevezis will play against the league's leader Zalgiris having rather not much hope for a victory.
