Regular Season Round 18: Challans - Rennes 75-90

Very expected game when 14th ranked Vendee Challans (7-11) lost at home to tenth ranked Union Rennes (9-9) 90-75. The game was mostly controlled by Union Rennes. Vendee Challans was better in third quarter 27-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Union Rennes dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Vendee Challans' 26. Union Rennes players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (179-87) who recorded 22 points and 5 assists and American power forward Jason Jones (202-86, college: Northeastern St.) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted Union Rennes maintains tenth position with 9-9 record. Vendee Challans at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 11 games lost. Union Rennes' next round opponent will be higher ranked Rueil (#3) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Vendee Challans will play against Orchesien BC (#9) in Orchies and hope to win that game.
