Regular Season Round 15: Barbera - Sitges 78-69

No shocking result in a game in Barcelona where fourth ranked Barbera (8-4) won against 11th ranked Sitges (3-8) 78-69 on Saturday. Barbera shot 28 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Sitges only scored six points from the stripe. Barbera forced 19 Sitges turnovers. Sitges was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Sergio Guardia (188-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Lluis Soumah (185-87) helped adding 19 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Eduard Riu (202-82) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and Gerard Gonzalvez (-93) scored 16 points. Sitges' coach Eduardo Pinero let to play ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barbera maintains fourth place in Group C-B with 8-4 record. Sitges lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with eight games lost. Barbera will face Palma II (#5) in the next round. Sitges will play against Vive El Masnou (#7) and hope to win that game.
