Regular Season Round 14: Hapoel T-A - Hapoel Eilat 90-84

Date: January 15, 2017
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Hapoel Eilat (6-8) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (8-6) 90-84. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 23 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 32-15 Hapoel Eilat's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 90-84 at the end of the game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv forced 19 Hapoel Eilat turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) notched 23 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and forward Darrell Williams (203-89, college: Tex.A&M-Comm., agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 21 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Even 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by point guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Eilat. Forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel J-M. Hapoel Eilat at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tel-Aviv to the arena Maccabi T-A.
