Regular Season Round 15: Bayer Giants - Karlsruhe PS 87-66

There was a minor upset in Leverkusen where leader Karlsruhe PS (12-3) was crushed by fourth ranked Bayer Giants (10-5) 87-66 on Sunday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in South. Bayer Giants forced 21 Karlsruhe PS turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Karlsruhe PS's players. It was a great evening for swingman Tim Schonborn (193-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: E.Michigan) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was swingman Eric Curth (193-92) with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Orlando Parker (203-91, college: Wagner) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Karlsruhe PS players scored in double figures. Bayer Giants moved-up to second place in South, which they share with Weissenhorn. Newly promoted Karlsruhe PS still keeps top position with three games lost. Bayer Giants will face FC Bayern II (#4) in Muenchen in the next round. Karlsruhe PS will play at home against Dragons Rhoendorf and hope to win that game.
