An exciting game was played in Singapore. Second ranked Singapore Singapore Slingers faced one of their biggest challengers Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL. Host Singapore Slingers (8-2) defeated guests from (5-2) 82-72. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-72. Singapore Slingers outrebounded Hong Kong ELL 51-33 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Justin Howard (208-81, college: Mercer) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Leon Kwek Wei (188-96) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and his fellow American import guard Tyler Lamb (196-91, college: Long Beach St.) scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Singapore Slingers maintains second position with 8-2 record having 166 points less than leader Kaohsiung. Loser Hong Kong ELL keeps the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Alab Pilipinas. Singapore Slingers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hong Kong ELL will play against Alab Pilipinas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
