Regular Season Round 14: Parnu - Barsy Atyrau 92-96
Date: January 17, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 6th ranked Estonian Parnu (3-9) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (2-8) 96-92 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-92. It was a great shooting night for Barsy Atyrau especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. Parnu was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Trevin Parks (180-91, college: Johnson C. Smith) who scored 33 points (!!!). Russian-Kazakhstan forward Pavel Micheev (201-83) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Barsy Atyrau's coach used entire bench in such tough game. Lithuanian swingman Edvinas Seskus (196-95, agency: Players Group) produced 28 points and forward Mihkel Kirves (190-96) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Parnu players scored in double figures. Defending Kazakhstan champion maintains seventh position with 2-8 record. Loser Parnu keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Barsy Atyrau will face league's leader Barons Riga on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
