Regular Season Round 20: Neptunas - Lietuvos rytas 85-78

The most important game in the last round took place in Klaipeda between third ranked Lietuvos rytas (14-6) and fifth ranked Neptunas (10-10) on Saturday night. Lietuvos rytas was defeated by Neptunas in a tough game on the road 78-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. Lietuvos rytas trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 31-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 78-85 at the end of the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Lietuvos rytas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 5 assists and American guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) who added 17 points during the contest. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. International Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) responded with 30 points and American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) scored 22 points and 4 assists. Neptunas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vytautas and Juventus. Lietuvos rytas at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Neptunas is looking forward to face Vytautas (#4) in Prienai in the next round. Lietuvos rytas will play at home against Nevezis and is hoping to win this game.
