Regular Season Round 24: Al Shamal - Al Rayyan 89-80

Another interesting game was also this time a derby match between teams from Doha: Al Shamal (#6) and Al Rayyan (#4). Al Shamal (4-7) won against visiting Al Rayyan (7-4) 89-80. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Al Rayyan won third quarter 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Mohamed Haras who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Elhag Ali Saleh (191) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Four Al Shamal players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Marcus Bell (206-90, college: CS Stanislaus) who recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks and international swingman Mohd Hassan Mohamed (191-91) added 26 points, 5 assists and 7 steals respectively. Al Shamal maintains sixth position with 4-7 record, which they share with Al Ahli. Defending champion Al Rayyan keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Al Shamal's next round opponent will be Al Wakrah (#9) at home. Al Rayyan will play against Al Khor (#10) and hope to win that game.
