There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Fellbach (8-8) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Mainz (6-10) 103-87 on Sunday. Mainz shot 70.0 percent from the field and made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Mainz especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 71.4 percentage. Indian-American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) stepped up and scored 27 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Maximilian Befort (199-94) chipped in 15 points. Four Mainz players scored in double figures. Mainz's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized Polish point guard David Michalczyk (180-89) responded with 27 points and 6 assists and American forward Nick Mosley (203-88, college: Tarleton St.) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Mainz maintains ninth place in South-West with 6-10 record, which they share with Tuebingen II. Newly promoted Fellbach keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Mainz will face higher ranked TV Langen (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
