Regular Season Round 30: Sichuan BW - Shanghai S. 122-116

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Shanghai Sharks (25-5) on the court of tenth ranked Sichuan BW on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Sichuan BW 122-116. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Shanghai Sharks. Sichuan BW dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Shanghai Sharks' 50. They outrebounded Shanghai Sharks 56-34 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sichuan BW made 8 blocks. 29 personal fouls committed by Shanghai Sharks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Da Meng (196-82) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) with 50 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and French Guerschon Yabusele (201-95) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Five Sichuan BW and four Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. Defending champion (16-14) moved-up to ninth place. Shanghai Sharks at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. Sichuan BW are looking forward to face Fujian (#15) in Jinjiang in the next round where they are favorite. Shanghai Sharks will play on the road against the league's second-placed Xinjiang Flying Tige (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
