Regular Season Round 7: Hong Kong ELL - Alab Pilipinas 93-80

An interesting game for Hong Kong Hong Kong ELL (6-2) which hosted in Hong Kong their biggest opponent Filipino Alab Pilipinas (5-3). Third ranked Hong Kong ELL managed to get a 13-point victory 93-80. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Hong Kong ELL. Alab Pilipinas managed to win fourth quarter 27-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hong Kong ELL made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Alab Pilipinas turnovers. Strangely Alab Pilipinas outrebounded Hong Kong ELL 45-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Tyler Lamb (196-91, college: Long Beach St.) contributed with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Hong Kong ELL players scored in double figures. American-Filipino guard Bobby Ray Parks (193-93, college: High School) answered with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and American center James Hughes (211-83, college: N.Illinois, agency: Haylett Sports) added 19 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Alab Pilipinas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hong Kong ELL moved-up to second place. Alab Pilipinas at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Hong Kong ELL are looking forward to face league's leader Singapore Slingers on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Alab Pilipinas will play against Saigon Heat and are hoping to win this game.
