Regular Season Round 14: Kormend - Szedeak 100-67

Second ranked Kormend (10-4) crushed at home 8th ranked Szedeak (7-7) by 33 points 100-67, which is the biggest margin this round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Szedeak. It looked good early as Szedeak took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kormend had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Szedeak was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-100. Kormend dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Szedeak's 32. They outrebounded Szedeak 38-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. American guard Lenzelle Smith Jr. (193-91, college: Ohio St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import forward Terry Allen (203-93, college: Richmond) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Kormend players scored in double figures. Kormend's coach Gasper Potocnik felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bulgarian Ivan Lilov (194-88, agency: Two Points) replied with 27 points and Serbian center Nenad Sulovic (202-85, agency: BeoBasket) added 12 points in the effort for Szedeak. Kormend maintains second position with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Alba. Szedeak at the other side keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Kormend's next round opponent will be Kaposvari (#7) on the road where they are favorite. Szedeak will play against PVSK Pannon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
