Regular Season Round 31: Xinjiang FT - Shanghai S. 109-95

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Shanghai Sharks (25-6) in Urumqi on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by Xinjiang Flying Tigers (25-6) 109-95. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Xinjiang Flying Tigers forced 20 Shanghai Sharks turnovers and outrebounded them 49-33 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Xinjiang Flying Tigers made 7 blocks. American-Filipino power forward Andray Blatche (211-86) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International center Qi Zhou (217-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Xinjiang Flying Tigers players scored in double figures. Xinjiang Flying Tigers's coach Qiuping Liu used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. French Guerschon Yabusele (201-95) produced 30 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) added 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Xinjiang Flying Tigers used an opportunity after Shanghai S. lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Shanghai Sharks. Xinjiang Flying Tigers is looking forward to face Fujian (#16) in Jinjiang in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Shanghai Sharks will play at home against Qingdao Eagles (#12) and are hoping to win this game.
