Date: January 24, 2017
Bottom-ranked Noorteliiga (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 94-67 loss to eighth ranked TLU/Kalev (5-10) in Tallinn on Tuesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by TLU/Kalev. Noorteliiga was better in fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TLU/Kalev forced 21 Noorteliiga turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Kristo Saage (186-85) who scored 15 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Kaido Saks (207-86, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five TLU/Kalev players scored in double figures. Tom Kaldre (190-98) produced 17 points and 4 assists and point guard Ron-Arnar Pehka (185-98) added 15 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TLU/Kalev moved-up to sixth place. Loser Noorteliiga still closes the standings with 11 games lost. TLU/Kalev's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tallinn Kalev/Cramo.
