Regular Season Round 15: P.Zvaigzdes - Valmiera 77-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Lithuanian P.Zvaigzdes' (11-1) home victory over 9th ranked Latvian Valmiera (9-3) in Pasvalys 77-71 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-9. But Valmiera won third quarter 23-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. P.Zvaigzdes made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) who led the winners and scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Egidijus Dimsa (204-85) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall) came up with 14 points and 9 assists and Arturs Berzins (204-88) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Valmiera in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for P.Zvaigzdes. They maintain eighth place with 11-1 record. Defending Latvian champion Valmiera keeps the ninth position with three games lost.
