Regular Season Round 17: Lusitania - Illiabum 78-82

There was no surprise in Angra where 10th ranked Lusitania (4-13) was defeated by sixth ranked Illiabum (11-6) 82-78 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Nikola Tadic (206-88) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Rashad Bishop (198-88, college: Cincinnati, agency: Basket Management Solutions) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Illiabum's coach Ricardo Vasconcelos used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized American forward Rick Cardoso (201-85, college: CS Stanislaus, agency: Promotex) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Anthony Holliday (191-92, college: Lamar) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Illiabum moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Galitos-Barreiro. Loser Lusitania dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. Illiabum will face bottom-ranked Sampaense (#12) in Coimbra in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lusitania will play on the road against Electrico FC in Ponte de Sor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
