Regular Season Round 25: Al Arabi - Al Rayyan 61-73

The most shocking disappointment of round 25 was a home defeat of 4th placed Al Arabi (8-5) to sixth ranked Al Rayyan (9-4) 73-61 in the game for the third place. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-61. Al Rayyan outrebounded Al Arabi 54-31 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center Marcus Bell (206-90, college: CS Stanislaus) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Tanguy Ngombo (197-84) chipped in 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. At the losing side Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Al Rayyan have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
