Regular Season Round 10: Vardar - Rabotnicki 73-82

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Skopje: Rabotnicki (#1) and Vardar (#8). Vardar was defeated at home 73-82 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Rabotnicki had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rabotnicki made 8 blocks. The former international point guard Vlado Ilievski (188-80, agency: BeoBasket) scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian center Nenad Misanovic (217-84) chipped in 18 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks during the contest. At the losing side Jetmir Zekjiri (200-96) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and American-Nigerian guard Deji Ibitayo (193-93, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Vardar's coach Gjorgi Kocov rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rabotnicki maintains first position with 9-1 record, which they share with Feni Industries. Newly promoted Vardar still closes the standings with ten games lost. Rabotnicki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vardar will play on the road against the league's second-placed Feni Industries (#2) in Kavadarci and hopes to get finally their first victory.
