Very expected game when 17th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (1-18) was crushed at home by second ranked Brose Baskets (17-1) 96-68. Brose Baskets shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Jerel McNeal (191-87, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 assists. The former international guard Patrick Heckmann (197-92, college: Boston Coll.) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. American power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) added 15 points in the effort for SC Rasta Vechta. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brose Baskets have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 17-1 record behind leader Ratiopharm. SC Rasta Vechta lost thirteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth place with 18 games lost. Brose Baskets' next round opponent will be s Oliver Baskets (#14) in Wuerzburg which should be another easy win for them. SC Rasta Vechta will play on the road against Walter Tigers in Tuebingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
