No shocking result in a game when second ranked CB Canarias (14-4) defeated on the road 10th ranked Sevilla (7-11) 82-76 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-13. But Sevilla won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CB Canarias made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Canadian-Dutch forward Aaron Doornekamp (201-85, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Rodrigo San Miguel (186-85) helped adding 15 points. At the losing side Slovenian Bostjan Nachbar (205-80) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and FYR Macedonian guard Vojdan Stojanovski (194-87, agency: BeoBasket) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Canarias have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-4 record having just one point less than leader Real Madrid. Sevilla lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Estudiantes. CB Canarias will meet at home Joventut (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sevilla will play against Zaragoza (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
