Regular Season Round 27: BC Nokia - Kouvot 78-76

Important game to mention about took place in Nokia. Seventh ranked BC Nokia (10-15) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Kouvot (10-13) 78-76 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kouvot. It looked good early as Kouvot took a 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Nokia took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. They made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Senegalese forward Papa Dia (208-87, college: SMU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Canadian Sefton Barrett (196-83, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Blacktop Management) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) came up with 19 points and the other American import guard Raheem Appleby (190-93, college: Louisiana Tech) added 13 points respectively for Kouvot in the defeat. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BC Nokia maintains seventh place with 10-15 record. Defending champion Kouvot keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. BC Nokia will play against Tampereen Pyrinto (#9) on the road in the next round. Kouvot will play against Kauhajoen Karhu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
