Regular Season Round 17: Prostejov B - Sokol Slapanice 88-77

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked BK Prostejov B (7-10) defeated at home 4th placed Sokol Slapanice (9-8) 88-77 on Friday. BK Prostejov B forced 20 Sokol Slapanice turnovers. Strangely Sokol Slapanice outrebounded BK Prostejov B 48-33 including a 40-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sokol Slapanice was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Swingman Marek Sehnal (196-96) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Martin Nabelek (176-98) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Zdenek Sebela (192-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and guard Radek Hilser (197-81) added 11 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Sokol Slapanice. Five BK Prostejov B and four Sokol Slapanice players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. BK Prostejov B moved-up to sixth place, which they share with USK Praha B. Loser Sokol Slapanice keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. BK Prostejov B will face higher ranked Olomouc SK (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sokol Slapanice will play against the league's leader SKB Zlin and hope to win that game.
